Partridge India introduces Deepak Chopra, author of UNLIMITED LEARNINGS.

Partridge India Author| Deepak ChopraMy book UNLIMITED LEARNINGS (Because Life Never Stops teaching) has been published by Partridge India in June 2017. This is a sequel to my 1st book – Life’s Little Learnings, published in September 2015. It lays emphasis on effects of Compassion, Gratitude, Positivity and Mindfulness on our body, mind, intellect and life.

It is primarily a self-help and motivational book whereby I have tried to simplify the essential thoughts, worries, anxieties and concerns related to our day-to-day situations. I expect the readers to get sufficient motivation to learn, clarify, and help themselves become a better & stronger person so as to understand their abilities & capabilities, adopt a positive attitude with gratitude and finally be able to implement these virtues as considered appropriate in their respective lives.

The book explains the intricacies of mostly-confusing or misinterpreted topics in simple non-academic-language, and will enable you to learn to convert your challenges into opportunities. It contains easy to use techniques, and helps to develop confidence, to never lose hope, to always have belief in yourself, and to maintain positive attitude in all situations & circumstances.

Who is the author “behind” the book?

Partridge India Author| Deepak ChopraI am a psychological counsellor – practicing under the name & style of “HELPING MINDS” – providing support to people facing stress, anxiety, depression, and for varied relationship issues. I am actively associated with Snehi – an NGO based at New Delhi, involved in mental health care issues.

I also deliver talks, conduct seminars & workshops, and make presentations at various corporates for their employees – on stress, work-life balance, well-being and positivity; and at Jamia Millia university for their post-graduate students – on counselling techniques, relationships and handling drug abuse at field level, etc.

Which influences have inspired you, with regard to your writing style and your book itself?

As normal individuals, we all perhaps ignore taking care of our mental health – and then find it difficult to face our challenges at times of distress. My exposure to handling the stress levels of senior school students and their parents during annual examination/ result times, while associated with Snehi since 2000, converted my sympathetic & patient nature to an empathetic & compassionate attitude. It further strengthened my desire to do something different and valuable for the society at large.

Having experienced certain difficulties and challenges in my life, and not been able to get the right kind of inputs and guidance from a single source, I felt there could be a need for other people also – under similar conditions and circumstances – to be wanting relevant information, guidance and clarifications on certain issues affecting life in general. Reading a large number of books and articles – on issues related to human psychology, well-being and positivity –  initiated and invited me to develop my capabilities as a communicator.

That is when I attempted my 1st book – primarily to share my learnings and experiences, besides to address general issues and concerns in short and simple non-technical words – not more than 2 pages for each topic. I got very encouraging and positive feedback from a large number of friends on the crispness of ideas, clarity of thoughts and meaningfulness of varied lessons at every step of our life. My 2nd book is on similar lines as of my 1st one, with more topics and more elaborative.

What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers about your book?

Read the book at your convenience. There is no beginning and no end. Whichever chapter is opened at random is likely to provide you with some thought & solution to address issues and concerns disturbing you at the moment.

Responding instead of reacting to situations, reducing expectations and increasing acceptance is yet another important message I would like to strongly convey and recommend.

Believe me, it may be little difficult initially but is definitely not impossible to make your own life happier, simpler and stress-free – with discipline, dedication and prioritization.

Are you working on a sequel to your book?

Will consider it depending on what more ideas come to my mind and I consider them as relevant to the society. This present book is itself a sequel to my 1st one.

Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?

Still working upon them.

What was your favourite part of your publishing experience?

The speed at which Partridge team worked upon my manuscript.

What did you think of your Partridge experience?

So far, it has been good and professional.

Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?

It’s too pre-mature for me to offer professional advice to aspiring authors, but primarily be very clear in what you want to share and communicate, use simple language, and learn to implement in your own life – those messages that you want people to follow (for motivational or self-help books).
