Partridge India introduces Kalim Ansari, author of The Wailing.

About Your Book and Yourself.

Please briefly describe your book.

The Wailing is a horror thriller. It is the story of a successful businessman who is happily married to his childhood sweetheart. Yet he is a philanderer. One early morning, he wakes up to the news of the death of his colleague, with whom he had an affair.

That leads to the beginning of his nightmares. The nightmares turn into hallucinations. Although he believes that the apparition is real and of his dead colleague, he is unable to explain it to his wife. He thus seeks help from his psychiatrist friend. The events take a macabre turn as this unnatural force threatens his life and everything that he cares for.

Who is the author “behind” the book?

Partridge India Author| Kalim Ansari, The WailingI am Kalim Ansari. I am a science graduate with an MBA in Marketing. After having a successful career in Advertising for over 10 years, I quit. Now, I am a professor of Marketing Communications & Brand Building.

Originally, I had written this story as a plot for a movie script. After it gathered dust for many years, I decided to write it as a book.

Which influences have inspired you, with regard to your writing style and your book itself?

I am a fan of science fiction. The first novel I read as a teenager was Bram Stoker’s Dracula. By then I had already seen the movie. Similarly, after watching The Shining, Carrie, The Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko, I went ahead to buy the respective novels.

I imagine every scene and I write down what I see. This story occurred in my head as a loose plot while discussing some weird paranormal cases with my sister who is a clinical psychologist.

What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers about your book?

Maybe, it is based on a true story. So read it and share your views.

Are you working on a sequel to your book?

In a way, yes! This story is over. But there is a possibility of reprising one of the central characters from the story and taking it forward. If you have read the book, then you would know who I am talking about. The genre won’t change.

Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?

I am planning to promote the book. But I want to do it step wise.

What was your favourite part of your publishing experience?

The ease with which my book changed from a manuscript into a book, I have no words to describe the joy I felt.

What did you think of your Partridge experience?

Partridge India Author| Kalim Ansari, The WailingMy experience with Partridge was great. I wish I could name the people I interacted with and thank them. They were cordial and professional in their services. They diligently followed up with me and saw to it that my dream turned into a reality.

Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Aim for the stars. Maybe you will not reach there, but you shall certainly move beyond of where you were.

So write. Your book may become a bestseller or maybe not. You shall still have a book with your name written on it.
