Partridge India Author| Vasanth Kumar J, Till The Last Cut is Delivered Pt 2
Partridge India returns with Vasanth Kumar J, author of Till The Last Cut is Delivered…
What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers about your book?
The book is a collection of perspectives which can vary depending on where the reader is coming from in terms of a line of thought, which I encourage them to interpret as they wish. As long as they are able to relate, react and respond to that emotion, I have achieved the objective of the verse…but what’s the point of a verse without an enigma! So feel free to read it with an open mind too…
Are you working on a sequel to your book?
Potentially, yes. But this may take a few years to put together, given the resources I had to put into this effort. Being a full time working professional and given the commitments around me, it will be tough but it should be possible!
Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?
Word of mouth and social platforms would be the primary source. Given that this is my first publication, it was an enthusiastic and cathartic exercise where the objective was to get it out to the world than let it gather dust. I firmly believe that reference works…if you really like my work, then you’re bound to refer it to someone…it is very powerful.
What was your favourite part of your publishing experience?
The process of compiling so many years of work, the gravity of which I did not realize until I dusted my old shelves and boxes to bring it back to life, was by far, the best experience. The belief, that I could publish knowing that I am not as close to my contemporaries, was a challenging aspect which was a learning experience. I was obviously anxious and excited by the aspect that I would get to share my thoughts, experiences and perspectives with the world as a published poet. The fact that I did not do this project as a means to earn royalty of for showing sales numbers, was the perfect motivation for me to approach it as a true poet would do…deliver the best!
What did you think of your Partridge experience?
The fact that self-publishing is an amazing platform for young, upcoming and new publishers to come forward, express and display their work to the world is a blessing! Partridge was very supportive and motivated me to do well in all aspects. They helped me learn the nuances of publishing, which is a whole new process one the manuscript is done and taken to the next levels and is a must learn for all writers. The team was amazing and worked on my comfort and did not push in terms of deadlines…they were persuasive however, in helping me complete my manuscript which I must sincerely appreciate.
Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Keep writing…as a habit of practice. Never let go of any source of inspiration, never mind the scale…life’s experiences and other worldly visions and dreams can be your source of material as well. Make sure you carve your style which is unique…be brave and bold…never stop writing, it’s an amazing experience!
